To provide facilities for the enablement of exports (in containers) of scrap steel from various areas across South Africa.
Solution
Establishment of empty container park, provision of short haul cartage services for selected customers and rail services to the designated ports.
Providing daily tracking updates for the customers from origin up to shipment of the containers.
Challenges
Capital and infrastructure requirements were large to begin with especially as would need many trailers to service all the targeted scrap yards
Payment issues, especially unsecured debt also lead to many sleepless nights.
Result
Well established client relationships with ongoing business. The payment issues also largely resolved due to a well-established trust relationship.
